Bishnu Bahadur Thapa is the co-founder and executive director of Xion Health. He is a health economist with over a decade of experience in health and health-adjacent fields. His professional journey began in 2010, following the completion of his undergraduate degree in economics. Over the years, he has collaborated with a diverse range of clients, including national and sub-national governments, the World Bank, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and leading pharmaceutical companies. His work spans various high-impact projects, including real-world studies of FDA-approved pharmaceutical products in the United States, an economic analysis of a multi-million-dollar national health project in Albania, a causal study on the effects of intergovernmental fiscal transfers on health outcomes in Kenya, an evaluation of integrated behavioral health and its impact on healthcare resource utilization and costs in Rhode Island, and an implementation assessment of Nepal’s national health insurance scheme.
Beyond the United States, Bishnu’s work has extended across multiple countries, including Albania, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Vietnam Kenya, Myanmar, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, such as JAMA Health Forum, Journal of Urban Health, BMJ Open, Health Research Policy and Systems, and The American Journal of Managed Care. He holds a BA in economics and government from Harvard University, an MPA in economics and health policy from Princeton University, and a PhD in public health with a specialization in health economics from Brown University.
Richa Joshi is the co-founder of Xion Health. She has extensive experience and expertise working with real-world data, including Medicare, Medicaid, and the All-Payer Claims Database. Richa currently works as a biostatistician at the Brown University School of Public Health. She collaborates with researchers on health projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Rhode Island Department of Health, pharmaceutical companies, and foundations. Her work spans a range of critical topics, from analyzing prescription drug cost trends to evaluating post-acute care among Medicare beneficiaries. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of the American Medical Directors Association, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, BMC Medicine, and The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. Previously, Richa held positions at the International Finance Corporation and Pact Inc. She has an MBA (with a concentration in finance and human resource) from Kathmandu University and an MS in data science from George Washington University.
